What a busy year it’s been for me! A wonderful, incredible, busy year. So, it is not with regret but with a sense of lightness that I tell you this is our last Foodie Penpals for 2013 – we will be starting back up again in January. I plan on relishing the extra time this brings me in December. Not only will I have a little extra time to relish (here comes a seamless link), I also have some wonderful treats from me November parcel, courtesy of Hannah in Germany. Hannah has a blog, which is in German, that you can check out – it’s called Hannah Gets Fit.
I know this post won’t do the parcel justice, but it arrived yesterday and I don’t want to set a bad example by having my reveal post be late! So here are all my photos in one of those mosaics I’ve been using so much this week (look out for another one tomorrow), plus a tiny bit of explanation.
The postcard is of Hannah’s home town, which was a lovely personal touch and set me in just the right mood to open up the rest of the parcel. Hannah writes that she has included lots of ‘typical German stuff’, which includes Milka chocolate and Haribo gummy bears – the biggest bag of gummy bears I’ve ever seen! And how adorable are those little Milka eggs in their purple carton, with a wee spoon to dig in to them? So sweet!
I have tried the biscuits, though I haven’t taken a moment to look up and see what exactly is in them. They are somewhere between cake and biscuit, and have a hint of what might be booze about them… Needless to say, I love them.
I haven’t tried the banana treat yet, though I love banana flavoured things (as well as real bananas) so I know it will go over well. I also look forward to investigating the Quark-schmarrn, which I think is a kind of pancake that you scramble up in the pan while you’re cooking it? Sounds perfect with a ton of syrup and maybe some bacon…?
Hannah also included a selection of tea bags – ideal for the cold weather we’re getting now – and a beer which is locally brewed. The beer is in my fridge, waiting for the opportune moment, and the tea has been added to my stash in the office, where we drink gallons of tea by the day.
Hannah, thank you again for my parcel, it was full of great things and so thoughtfully put together. A really lovely gift!
